We’re a women-owned studio that applauds imperfection, getting messy, and celebrating our unruly creations. You might already know us as Pinckney Clay, once located at 30th and Mission. This is our new home—all shiny with a new name—that captures our hopes for ceramic and 2D art in the community.

At Speckle Studio, everyone is welcome.

Come visit the new site of New Classic, originally on 24th & Sanchez in Noe Valley. The Speckle Studio shop features spectacular work by 10 local artists, most of them your teachers here at the studio! We have some clay supplies for sale, with more art supplies to come.

Our Story

A speckle is small, but it matters.

Perhaps it’s imperfect or unruly, but it’s a mark of presence. A sign that something was here, even if it was barely noticeable at first. 

And what starts as a single, isolated spot, joins others to form a collection: Not as the center of attention, but as part of the beautiful whole. 

This is a place where your presence contributes to the collective. Where every smudge, scratch, and sketch tells the story of hands learning to try. And bit by bit, piece by piece, something special of your own making starts to take shape.

Because here, we gather not just for mastery, but for the small joy of making.

Jump into the small joy of making whenever you please as a Speckle Studio member! We have 18 wheels, three big work areas, a slab roller, kitchen, backyard, balcony, and an art and clay supply shop. We glaze fire to cone 6 and bisque at 06.

Members get their own private shelf for work storage, access to monthly member only workshops, and a member holiday sale.
