Students will learn the basic structure of the head, learn to simplify what they see into large shapes, understand proportion and learn different tricks for creating a likeness. Students will be taught how to think in terms of shapes and values so as to avoid the trap of small details. I’ll be walking around throughout the class making suggestions and being available for questions.
Tanya Wischerath is a San Francisco–based artist whose work spans portraiture, painting, murals, and illustration. She received her classical training at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, where she completed the full-time atelier program and earned her diploma in Classical Painting. Her rigorous academic training continues to inform her approach to drawing and portraiture, combining technical precision with a deep sensitivity to observation.
Her portrait work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh as part of the prestigious BP Portrait Award exhibition. In addition to her studio practice, Tanya has taught drawing and painting in both Italy and the United States, sharing the principles of classical observation while encouraging students to develop their own artistic voice.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel up to 72 hours before your class start date to receive a full refund or a credit, minus a $20 cancellation fee. Transfers are not allowed.
Cancellations made outside of the 72 hour window are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Once a class has started, no refunds, credits, or transfers can be issued. Cancellations must be delivered via email to hello@specklestudio.com.
